Avocado Oil Health Benefits

Avocado oil is pressed from the fruit of the avocado. Cold pressing of avocados produces very high-quality oil with very low levels of acidity and oxidation products whilst retaining the vitamin E content.

Avocado oil has very desirable qualities as food oil, but does it bring health benefits?

While there may well be constituents not yet explored, several have defined health effects.

The oil is very similar to olive oil, which is a basis of the healthful Mediterranean diet, the key similarity being that Avocado oil is very rich in monounsaturated fatty acids and extremely low in saturated fat. It also contains no cholesterol.

Avocado’s rich flavour makes it a welcome addition to your diet. Used as cooking oil, avocado oil adds richness to sautéed vegetables try it paired with summer squash and kale for a colourful and nutrient-packed dish.

Avocado oil contains a high amount of proteins and unsaturated fats, both of which are strong skin agents.

Avocado oil actually contains omega-3 fatty acids those very same fatty acids as found in fish oil.

Avocado oil is rich in antioxidants, making it useful for healing sun-damaged skin. Antioxidants like vitamins A, D and E in avocado cause the skin to be suppler, and are thus particularly good for dry or aged skin.

Avocado oil applied topically helps relieve dry and itchy skin. Once applied, avocado oil is deeply absorbed by the skin, thus making it an ideal moisturizer and skin care agent.

The ability of avocado to help prevent the occurrence of cancers in the mouth, skin, and prostate gland has been studied in a preliminary way by health researchers, mostly through the use of lab studies on cancer cells or lab studies involving animals and their consumption of avocado extracts.

But even though this anti-cancer research has been limited with respect to humans and diet, we believe that the preliminary results are impressive.

The anti-cancer properties of avocado are definitely related to its unusual mix of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant nutrients.
